The CPKC Women’s Open is on deck this week for the LPGA Tour, and many of this year’s 156-player field are using this event as one final tune-up before jetting off to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games. The tournament is celebrating its 50th anniversary at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and will see players like Canadian Brooke Henderson, 11-time LPGA Tour winner Lexi Thompson and Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 2 Lilia Vu tee it up and duke it out for a share of a $2.6 million purse. Twenty-three 2024 LPGA Tour rookies will also compete, as will six of this year’s 14 total LPGA Tour winners, including last week’s Dana Open champion Chanettee Wannasaen and two-time 2024 winner Hannah Green.

Take a look at just some of this week’s featured groups at the CPKC Women’s Open, usingKPMG Performance Insights:

Thursday, 8:21 a.m.* – Minjee Lee/Allisen Corpuz/Leona Maguire

Minjee Lee is one of those players who will be competing at Le Golf National in a couple of weeks in the women’s golf competition at the Paris Olympics, and she will be looking to find some momentum at the CPKC Women’s Open that she can carry with her to France. This week marks Lee’s eighth start in this event, and in her seven previous appearances in Canada, the Australian has only finished better than a tie for 22nd one time, tying for fourth in 2018 after posting a four-day total of 14-under at Wascana Country Club in Regina, Saskatchewan. This is the 28-year-old’s 13th event of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, and it’s been a steady but seemingly quiet year for the 10-time LPGA Tour winner. Lee has missed four cuts, the highest number of missed cuts she’s had since joining the Tour back in 2015, but she has still managed to earn four top-15 finishes, the best of which is a tie for fourth at the Blue Bay LPGA and the most notable of which is a tie for ninth that came at the U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally at Lancaster Country Club. Using data provided by KPMG Performance Insights, Lee currently ranks first in strokes gained approach (+1.76) and second in strokes gained tee to green (+1.72) on the LPGA Tour this season. She is also third in overall proximity to the hole and fourth in proximity to the hole from 125-150 yards, additionally ranking 16th in greens in regulation (71.08%).

Allisen Corpuz is teeing it up in the CPKC Women’s Open for the third consecutive year this week at Earl Grey Golf Club and will be looking to add another top finish to her already solid Canadian resume. She finished in a tie for 26th in her tournament debut in 2022 and then tied for 17th last year at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, two performances she’ll be working to better in 2024. The Hawaii native has been a steady Eddie this season on the LPGA Tour, only missing two cuts and collecting five top-20 finishes in her 14 tournaments ahead of this week in Calgary. Her season-best result is a tie for fifth that came at the Meijer LPGA Classic forSimply Give, and she backed that up with a tie for 19th showing at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship the very next week at a difficult Sahalee Country Club. Statistically, Corpuz is ranked in the top 20 in one strokes gained category, currently sitting at 17th in strokes gained approach, according to KPMG Performance Insights. The 26-year-old also leads the LPGA Tour in driving accuracy (85.98%) and is 13th in greens in regulation (71.57%).

Leona Maguire will also be competing in Paris in two weeks’ time and will be looking to find some form at Earl Grey Golf Club before heading to France. The CPKC Women’s Open is the Irishwoman’s 15th start of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, and it’s been a bit of a mixed-bag year for Maguire over the past seven months. She started strong, carding three top-15 results in her first seven starts of the season, including a runner-up showing at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. But Maguire cooled off in the middle of April, missing four cuts in her last seven starts, three of which were at major championships, and only finding the top 15 once after tying for 12th at the Cognizant Founders Cup. The two-time LPGA Tour winner has earned one other top-25 result in that same span, tying for 24th at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Sammamish, Wash. According to KPMG Performance Insights, the 29-year-old Maguire is ranked inside the top 25 in both strokes gained around the green (8, +0.43) and strokes gained putting (23, +0.54) on the LPGA Tour this season.

Thursday, 8:32 a.m.* – Brooke Henderson/Lilia Vu/Haeran Ryu

The belle of the ball every year at the CPKC Women’s Open is Brooke Henderson, who won her national open in 2018 at Wascana Country Club. With 13 LPGA Tour victories, the Smith Falls, Ontario native is the winningest Canadian golfer in history and will be looking to add another tally to her career win column this week in Calgary. This is her 11th start in this event, and along with her victory a few years ago, Henderson has collected four other top-15 results, the most recent of which was a tie for 13th that came last year in Vancouver, British Columbia. The soon-to-be three-time Olympian has been as consistent as ever this season, earning six top-10 finishes that include three T3 or better results at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions (3), HSBC Women's World Championship (T3) and The Chevron Championship (T3). According to KPMG Performance Insights, Henderson is gaining shots in every strokes gained category this season, ranking ninth in strokes gained driving (+0.57), 12th in strokes gained total (+1.42) and 14th in strokes gained tee to green (+1.13). Lilia Vu is making just her third start ever in the CPKC Women’s Open and will be looking to improve upon a career-best T17 result this week in Canada. This is just her 11th start of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, as Vu took a two-month hiatus after withdrawing from her title defense at The Chevron Championship to rehab a back injury, finally returning to competition at the Meijer LPGA Classic forSimply Give. She won that week in Belmont, Mich., defeating Grace Kim and Lexi Thompson in a three-hole playoff at Blythefield Country Club en route to her fifth LPGA Tour victory in the last two seasons. She has continued to ride that momentum in her last two starts in major championships, finishing in a tie for second at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and tying for 26th at The Amundi Evian Championship. Vu has three other top 25s on her 2024 resume, finishing 18th at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, tying for seventh in her title defense at the Honda LPGA Thailand and then tying for 21st at the Ford Championship presented by KCC. According to KPMG Performance Insights, the California native ranks seventh in strokes gained total (+1.54) on the LPGA Tour this season despite her limited starts, also ranking fifth in greens in regulation (72.54%) and 11th in strokes gained putting (+0.73). The Rolex Rankings No. 2 is another player who will be competing at the Olympics in two weeks’ time as she makes her Olympics debut in Paris, France, in mid-August.

Haeran Ryu finished in a tie for 41st in her CPKC Women’s Open debut in 2023 and is primed to improve that showing this week at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta. The Republic of Korea native has earned three top-10 results in her last four starts on the LPGA Tour, finishing runner-up at the Dana Open, coming fifth at The Amundi Evian Championship and then tying for ninth in mid-June at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She has five other T12 or better finishes on her 2024 resume, including a solo third at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro and a solo fifth showing at The Chevron Championship, her career-best finish in a major championship. Ryu played incredibly well at Highland Meadows Golf Club last week, gaining 18 strokes on the field at the Dana Open and leading the field in strokes gained tee to green at the end of the week in Sylvania, Ohio, according to KPMG Performance Insights. Statistically, the 23-year-old is also ranked in the top 15 on Tour in strokes gained tee to green (4, +1.64), strokes gained approach (4, +1.29), strokes gained total (8, +1.54) and strokes gained driving (15, +0.56) so far this season. She is also first in greens in regulation (75.21%), eighth in rounds in the 60s (17), ninth in rounds under par (28) and 12th in scoring average (70.65).

Thursday, 1:27 p.m. – Megan Khang/Hannah Green/Lexi Thompson

Megan Khang finally became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open after defeating Jin Young Ko in a one-hole playoff at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. She beat the Korean major champion in her 191st start on the LPGA Tour, having joined the organization back in 2015, and will be looking to recreate that same magic this year at Earl Grey Golf Club. Her title defense this week marks Khang’s seventh start in this tournament, and in addition to her victory, she has earned four other top-25 finishes, including a pair of T13s that came in 2019 and 2022, and she never missed the cut in Canada’s national open. This is her 14th event of the 2024 LPGA Tour season, and while Khang comes to Calgary fresh off back-to-back missed cuts at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and The Amundi Evian Championship, she has still been in solid form this year. The Massachusetts native has collected five top-15 finishes in 2024, two of which were top fives that came at the LPGA Drive On Championship, where Khang finished solo third, and the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer, where she tied for second. Hannah Green is the only other player on the LPGA Tour this season besides Nelly Korda who has claimed multiple victories in 2024, picking up wins at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro in her title defense. She’ll look to add a third win to her collection this week at the CPKC Women’s Open, an event in which the Australian has competed four other times, earning a career-best result of T4 last year at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. This is Green’s 13th tournament of the 2024 season, and along with her two victories, she has earned a solo second at the Mizuho Americas Open as well as two top-20 finishes at the Cognizant Founders Cup (T18) and the U.S. Women's Open presented by Ally (T16). Lexi Thompson is making another final tournament appearance this week at the CPKC Women’s Open, as the 11-time LPGA Tour winner will be stepping away from full-time professional golf at the end of this season. The 29-year-old has teed it up in 10 previous editions of Canada’s national open, earning three top-20 results, the best of which is a tie for ninth that came in the 2015 edition of the tournament held at Vancouver Golf Club.
